Growing up, my brother was always bringing home some dog or cat in need of a home, and I would be the one caring for them and begging our mother to let us keep them. The first one he brought home was a little kitty he named Albany. She would be the only one our mother would let us keep, but I loved her from the moment she came into the house. Albany would wait for me at the front window every school day to come home. When I walked up to the door, her little meow always melted my heart.

I went off to Salisbury State College twice; once in my teens after high school, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and Business Administration (2000). I worked in the mortgage industry for four years after graduation. I did not feel fulfilled sitting in a cubicle all day crunching numbers. In an attempt to find a career that aligned more with my passion, I decided to return to Salisbury University to earn a second degree in Interdisciplinary Studies concentrating on Archaeology (2007). Upon finishing at Salisbury University, I enrolled in the master’s program at Louisiana State University (LSU) to study Anthropology, concentrating in Archaeology after receiving a Research Assistant position.

During graduate school, I started house sitting and pet sitting for fellow graduate students or professors while they went off for summer fieldwork to make extra money. The pay was minimal, but I loved spending time with their animals.

After three years of living in Louisiana, I moved back to Maryland in May 2011. As I was wrapping up my thesis work, I continued to be a pet sitter on the side. In February 2014, I finished the last requirement to finish my Master’s Degree and found myself laid off from my archaeological position.

In March of 2014, my then soon to be sister-in-law, Tiffany, approached me to work for and potentially take over her pet sitting business. I was immediately excited and jumped on the opportunity. I started Jennifer’s Elite Pet Sitting in July, and away I went. In 2018, I decided to rebrand the company as I wanted to bring on employees and changed the business name to Platinum Paws Pet Services.

Honestly, I thought I would be a dog walker until I found another archaeological position, but I fell in love with spending my days caring for other people’s animals more than wanting to be an archaeologist. I mean, who would not want to spend your days with dogs outside going for walks!

I am extraordinarily proud of the premier pet care service I have built. I am the luckiest person to get up every morning to run this outstanding business! I absolutely adore and could not imagine doing anything else.

I am an active member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Salisbury University’s Alumni-Owned Business Program. Since January 2018, I have been an active volunteer with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and, in January 2020, was elected to sit on the Board of Directors. I am also the proud Dog Mom of Countess Zoey, who joined my family in December of 2020.

I was born and raised in West Chester, PA, but currently live in Greencastle.   I have always loved animals from a young age, especially cats.  I was very close to my one cat Samantha, who we found as a kitten, and who ended up living to be 20 years old.

I wasn’t allowed pets for several years during college and a few years after, and I really missed having them.  I got my first pet on my own as an adult in 2003, (my beloved Maine Coon Archie) and have had at least one pet ever since.  I currently have an 11-year-old chocolate lab that is my baby, and three crazy cats, none of whom get along!

I love the outdoors and just generally being outside.  I enjoy running (especially on trails), hiking, traveling to and visiting National Parks, and reading.

I currently work at a local doggie daycare/boarding/training facility, so I literally spend my whole day with animals.

I’ve also been a volunteer with Better Days Animal League in Chambersburg, PA for about 5 years now, cleaning the cat room, walking dogs, and helping with TNR clinics.

My love for animals began at an early age. I wanted to be a zookeeper and work with lions. Instead, I turned to domestic animals and have been in some capacity for over 40 years!
For the past 5 years, I have been employed as an internal medicine vet tech assistant. Every day is a new adventure! I share a home with two cats and 2 dogs, along with a loving husband.

I’m an avid animal lover and I would do anything to ensure that your pet is safe and taken care of! Your animal’s care is just as important to me as my own fur babies. 🙂

Ever since I was a young child, I’ve always been an avid animal lover and caretaker. From dogs to cats, to hamsters, fish, and reptiles, I’ve had exposure to a plethora of different animal species and am very experienced with taking care of them. Aside from my animal endeavors, I also love helping people and gained valuable customer service skills working as a host at Cracker Barrel for the past 2 years. I recently graduated high school, and am planning on going off to college to pursue my interest in veterinary medicine. It has always been a dream of mine to have a job where I am able to work with animals each and every day. Everyone has their individual passions, and I have found solace in taking care of animals and learning more about them in the process. Currently, I own and care for two dogs, a turtle, and a bearded dragon. First, there is my little old man Luigi, a 12-year-old chihuahua-terrier mix who has grown up alongside me and is very special to me. My other dog is a 3-year-old pitbull named Memphis, who is a very sassy girl that is full of personality and helps keep me on my toes. I’ve had my red-eared slider Squirt since I was 5, and he is my oldest and will most likely outlive them all funnily enough! Finally, I recently adopted a bearded dragon named Spyro, who has allowed me to get more comfortable in dealing with more exotic reptiles. I can’t imagine a life where I didn’t have my amazing fur (and scaled) babies, as they mean more to me than words can express. My mission in life is to help each and every animal that I encounter, both professionally and in my own personal life. An ambition of mine is to one day open up my own veterinary clinic!

As only being a sophomore in college, my love for animals continues to grow each day. I am a dog mom of my adorable lab-pit mix Rylee… she is one unique pup. Growing up I’ve always wanted to have a bunny but my parents settled with a guinea pig. As of June 2021, I was lucky enough to adopt not only one but two bunnies, Yankee and Remy, that I adore. I am majoring in business with the intention to have my own doggy spa/get-a-way. The importance of a trusting company to watch or care for another person’s animal is a priority.

My love of animals started a long time ago; what child doesn’t dream of someday becoming a veterinarian? Our household always included a dog, at least one cat, and for me a parade of hamsters. Fast forward just a few years, and today my home includes: my Heinz 57 pup named Chance; 3 cats – Milo, Moose, and Madeleine; a Fancy Bear hamster named Tate; some fishies; and our beautiful bearded dragon, Cherry (formerly PonyBOY – oops); oh – and I can’t forget the two-legged teenager.

I have my Bachelor’s degree in Radiography, and for the past 23 years, I have worked in the medical field as an x-ray technologist/mammographer. My job – especially in the current climate – is pretty exhausting and at times very stressful. The best part of my day is coming home to see my daughter and being greeted by all the 4-legged critters at the front door. The purrs, kisses, and tail wags make any day better!

I have a soft spot in my heart for all animals – if I had more room in my home I would rescue all that I could! I look forward to taking care of and loving on all the animals in my care. It is of the utmost importance to me that my clients trust that I will love and care for their animals just as they would! As not only an employee but a client as well, I can attest to the fact that Platinum Paws provides top-notch animal care.
